The Vallejo City Council has approved a $250,000 grant program to assist small businesses that experienced severely limited operations or required closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Vallejo Small Business Microgrant Program will provide direct financial assistance to small businesses, the core of Vallejo and Solano County’s economy.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a disastrous impact on the national, state, and local economy. Particularly hard hit are small businesses, many of whom have been required to close operations due to State of California and County Public Health orders. The city of Vallejo has received funding from the Federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act that will be used to fund grants to our local small businesses.

For-profit businesses based in Vallejo with 20 or fewer full-time employees are eligible to apply for the Vallejo Small Business Microgrant Program.

All grants will be distributed under a lottery system. Applications will be accepted beginning October 14, 2020. The deadline to submit applications is 5:00 p.m. on October 28, 2020.

Please Note: Grant funds CAN be used to pay for for lease/rent payments, employee wages, and utilities.

Applications are no longer being accepted.

Two hundred and nine (209) small business applications were eligible for the Vallejo Small Business Microgrant Program. A randomization formula produce the following lottery results. If your business is not listed on the lottery list, a component of your application disqualified you for funding. This may include, but is not limited to, a missing City of Vallejo business license, a business that opened or took ownership of the business after March 2019, or a business that is not in good standing with County of Solano or State of California taxes.

All applicants whose lottery position falls within the $250,000 funding amount available (businesses from #1 to #43 on the lottery results) will move to a pre-award phase for underwriting which includes a verification of a valid business license with the City of Vallejo. Applicants in compliance will receive a grant agreement and funding from the Workforce Development Board (WDB) of Solano County. Any applicants selected under the lottery that are not in compliance will be removed from the process, and the next business on the lottery ordered list will be added until all funds are expended.
